quirky, bizarre, amusing, well-written, and fun to look at, we watched it twice, within a few days. i wasn't expecting to love it as much as i did; i anticipated it to be too artsy, or too hipster-ish. but it was just artsy enough and checked many other boxes, like amazing sets and a clever story, fun costumes and silly but honest young love.
it's the kind of movie i'll watch repeatedly and keep on in the background while cooking or cleaning. because it's good for the soul. i think we all need a little moonrise kingdom in our worlds.
