america the beautiful.

we live in a beautiful country and there's so much to see. these vintage posters of the national parks intrigue me and, as if there wasn't a strong desire abiding within me already to visit each park, i want to get in the car right now and road trip to them all. i want to witness and explore these national treasures with my own eyes and feet, even though the posters are pretty cool.
created in the mid-1930s in response to the great depression, the works progress administration and its federal arts project were focused in part on providing artwork for public buildings while assisting struggling artists. artists were tasked with creating posters that promoted the landscapes and wildlife of america's parks. the program ended in 1943, and the largest collection of wpa-era prints is now in the library of congress.
