wedding: flowers and shoes!

wedding wednesday
volume 4  |  chapter 16

it's time to start thinking flowers. farmgirl flowers, local to san francisco, offers some fantastic inspiration in their photo stream. i adore the idea of carrying one single stem, such as a classic rose. yellow or white or light apricot roses can win the day. their fragrance is remarkable and they can open into some of the most incredibly layered blossoms. i also swoon over rich and deep fall coloured blossoms that smell more amazing than they even look, wrapped all rustic-like in burlap. and what about those floral cabbages? those are pure greatness and they'd be perfect for autumn.

it's tough, choosing the flower(s). they have to be strong enough to last all day and i have to like them enough to want to carry them around and photograph them all day.

i think i've found my wedding shoe: j.crew's lillian wedge in patent leather, apricot. the low wedge will be comfortable for the entire day and the open shoe will keep my feet from sweating and swelling. they already came in the mail and i'm swooning. a close second is the same shoe in suede. j.crew describes the colour as fresh strawberry but out of the box it's more of a red-orange--a great summer-to-fall colour. they'd be fun peeking out in their brightness from under my dress. i'll take both pairs to my fitting on monday and see how they look with the dress on. i think the patent leather pair will be the victor.

i think i have my hair figured out, too. exciting times!
