home for christmas.

i live in the "big city" but like to think i grew up in the country. (technically i grew up in a small rural city surrounded by countryside.) and with the country comes land and snow and animals. the country i call home is 95.5 acres in a small rural town in eastern ohio. we have hills, a pond, a barn and apple trees. my mother felts in the cottage and dad builds fences.

my mother's felting work is remarkable. i'm trying to convince her to open a shop on etsy.com.

the red doors on the cottage. our christmas tree. gilbert and sullivan, our pygmy goats.

one of my favourite spots to visit when i'm home is lehman's hardware. you can find everything from wood-burning stoves to hand-dripped candles and retro-inspired kitchenware. when i was shopping for my own apartment i picked up many of my kitchen tools at lehman's. great quality and low prices. listen to me, i sound like an advertisement, but the truth must be told.

i love living in the city but my heart yearns for the countryside and walking the hills with the dogs at my side is just how i like to spend christmas.

happy christmas to you and yours!
