it's been a few years since i've been able to visit the lake house--"cottage"--but i'm heading there this summer with my siblings and i couldn't be more excited. (we used to visit every summer when we were all kids living at home.) we don't have a tv to hook up; no computers*; barely a radio. just us in nature--with electricity and plumbing. lots of walks. lots of time to read. time for kayaks on the lake and canoes in the swamp. card games and visits to town for the local ice creamery. it's my 2nd favourite place to get-away.
do you have a favourite summer getaway or place to visit? does your family follow a similar tradition?
*i'm considering an exception this year and powering up my macbook. there's an incredible creative buzz for me in the cottage--being out in nature always does that to me--and i want to be able to capture as much of that as i can and i just can't handwrite fast enough.
