imagine the sound of a summer rain tapping all of those slats or sleeping with the windows and the fresh summer night air breezing through or watching the moonlight dance along the hallway. i wish this was my summer vacation home.

southwest english home under the scandinavian influence.

i'm falling head over heals for this southwest english home.

the table and chairs.
the long countertop.
the gray sofa.
the chevron wood flooring.
the shelves under the stairs.
the tiled bathroom walls.

perhaps it's the scandinavian influence that has me smitten with its design and layout.
from kathryn tyler, resident of the beautiful house pictured below: "the houses we visited in scandinavia had such a welcoming feel, often because they used lots of wood and had really well-considered layouts. they looked lived in rather than pristine and they weren't soulless like so much contemporary, modern architecture can be."

dark libraries.

i love these dark dark dark libraries. i imagine their shelves to be full of books like dracula, frankenstein, the works of edgar allen poe, old dictionaries and encyclopedia collections. the rooms look like they have a few secrets and mysterious tales to tell.

libraries of grandeur.

stunning. romantic. reverent. magical. i think i'd very much like to venture on an international tour of libraries.
a little library, growing larger every year, is an honourable part of a man's history. it is a man's duty to have books. a library is not a luxury, but one of the necessaries of life. -- henry ward beecher

leather library.

from what i can see, the only thing this room is missing is a giant dog. and with the dog, it would be a perfect place to spend a lazy, cloudy saturday afternoon.
