this dress now belongs to me--hooray!

another great buy from animal*head*vintage on etsy. this purchase came with a bonus: meeting up with rw for lunch at the bay area hotspot ike's. the dress is intended for my company holiday party but, after zipping it on for a fitting tuesday night, i think i may just end up slipping into it from time to time after a long day just to feel better. it's that amazing.

p.s. the shop owner, rw, is modeling the dress.

jane birkin.

upon walking into a j.crew store last week (i came out with these in black; love them), a young associate gasped and told me i resembled jane birkin. i replied graciously thanking her for the compliment even though i couldn't recall who jane birkin was, let alone how she looked. so in the dressing room i did a quick google search and then later found these images on this is glamorous, as part of her great love story blog series. now, i don't think there's much of a resemblance but i was truly flattered.

i think it was the very wide leg light blue high-waisted jeans, scoopneck tan 1/2 sleeve tee, chunky necklace and my bangs that created the impression for the young sales associate.

books and bouquets.

this adorable couple, caitlin + simon, married at the boston public library! isn't that delightful? and the bride's dress--love. it's gloriously vintage and so glamourous.

black velvet.

okay, i know i just posted about a dress from animalheadvintage two days ago but this one is too good to pass up.

the black velvet. the asymmetrical neckline. the naked shoulder. the white pleated sleeve and neck trim. will one of you, lovies, dear readers, please buy it, snap a picture of how fabulous you look in it, and send to me with a story of where and when you wore it? it's such a great dress.

it deserves to be the lead role in its own fairytale. don't you agree?

lace and satin.

wedding wednesday
volume 1  |  chapter 21

this is a perfect party dress, all lace and satin, no question, but it would suit just as well--if not better considering all the photographs it would star in--as a vintage wedding dress. particularly one during the holiday season. pair the dress with a lovely fur stole, wrist-length gloves, and paint your lips red. divine!

and picture the groom in a perfectly-tailoured 3-piece suit--dark gray wool with [maybe] a pinstripe so close to the main suit colour you could barely tell it was there--and a true red bowtie, maybe red and cream striped. fancy.

red poppies cover the tables and the flames from the white tea lights dance about.

i can see clearly now.

for some time now i've wanted to change the frames of my glasses so i'd be more inclined to wear them as an alternative to my contacts. i've searched high and low for fun frames and now, thanks to for me, for you, i have found my new frames at MODvintageshop on etsy.

now i just have to decide what pair out of the forty-eight. i'm partial to the clear frames but i look great in tortoise but i love the shape of the top pair. decisions decisions! drop your opinion in a comment. i'd love to hear it.

dressed up!

while i haven't a wedding to plan, when i see vintage wedding dress sites like mill crest vintage, i can't help myself. i have to take a peek!

i love this 1950s petal chiffon tea length dress for a wedding dress. the length is what i really love. perfect. and the shape and style of this 1950s lilac pink and moss green watercolor party dress. so flattering. and this 1960s gigi young blue floral garden dress, pictured below. a party dress for a summer party!

vintage dress-a-roo!

i picked up this dress from the cleaners during the course of my weekend errands:

isn't it lovely? and what do you think of that giant bow? don't you just love it? i can't wait to show it off at parties this holiday season. now i just have to find the perfect pair of shoes...

i originally scored it from animalheadvintage. lucky for me, my friends run the small business on etsy.com.

are you as crazy as i am about the animal headpiece in the image? the minds behind animalheadvintage are just cool like that. if you're in the market for terrific vintage wear, be sure to take a look-see. you won't be disappointed.
