her style is a little over-the-top and eccentric for me but i hope i still have my style look and uniform when i'm in my silver years like linda. and when my grays come in, i plan on wearing them boldly, like a rich red lipstick or an oversized printed cardigan. 

style on, linda. you're an inspiration to us to indulge in any trend at any time, to wear what we want -- what makes us feel good and empowered. and you do it without looking like a grandma that raided her granddaughter's wardrobe. kudos and brava!

grace kelly: a simply gorgeous, natural beauty. in my book, she's a close second only to audrey hepburn. audrey will always be my top beauty and favourite fashion icon.

as photographed by irving penn. an american photographer that emphasized beauty rather than fashion. and she had all the beauty any woman could ever want and couldn't buy. mr. penn was even able to capture the beauty of her soul in this stunning photo. you can just see it--her charm, her inner beauty, her kindness, how she found fun in everyday life. truly spectacular. well done.

jane birkin.

upon walking into a j.crew store last week (i came out with these in black; love them), a young associate gasped and told me i resembled jane birkin. i replied graciously thanking her for the compliment even though i couldn't recall who jane birkin was, let alone how she looked. so in the dressing room i did a quick google search and then later found these images on this is glamorous, as part of her great love story blog series. now, i don't think there's much of a resemblance but i was truly flattered.

i think it was the very wide leg light blue high-waisted jeans, scoopneck tan 1/2 sleeve tee, chunky necklace and my bangs that created the impression for the young sales associate.

i'm drooling over his ultra, yet classic, feminine patterns in his autumn-winter 2012-13 collection. they are full of grace and femininity and beauty. lace & tea calls out that the collection was inspired by grace kelly and i can see that in every sleeve, pleat, button, and neckline. gorgeous. and isn't the white boatneck lace tea dress to die for? i would love a dress like that.

everything about these moving pictures excites me--the clothes, headpiece, crazy antler shoes, rug, facial expressions, vibrant nail colours. it's all over-the-top and silly awesome fun. the outfits are absolutely to die for and i would totally rock the headpiece or die trying.

in their day, and maybe even more-so now in modern times, they were the definition of the word "cool." they were at the top of their industry and defined so much of what we know today to be fashionable--in style, code of conduct, and attitude. they are the impossible cool.
