pretty and nice spaces.
some public. some private. some living. some bathing. some sleeping. some eating. some old. some new.
there are elements in each photo that appeal to me: a diy copper coffee table; a hardwood and marble floor; over-the-top fancy wallpaper; white tiled bathroom with a large, open shower; polished hardwood floors; white cabinets; white bedding; framed art displayed on the floor; cool rugs; brick; ornate mirrors; large windows; exposed beams.
oooooh, i'd love to spend a day or two in each space.

i could never live in a place this glamourous--
or starkly white. everywhere. but vacation in? yes.
a truly beautiful apartment. that bedroom. those floors. that vanity. the workroom. the light fixtures and windows. just lovely. they call it a chelsea townhouse and it's in london. i would've thought it was paris.

black and white decor.
while the richness of the black and white stripes and other matching pieces (zebra carpet running the stairs) is a tad much for me, i appreciate its grand appeal from an artistic and glamourous approach. it's such a simple concept--black and white--but always packs quite a punch--whether that punch is classic or strong or something else. having it in your entryway is making quite a statement and i'm curious about your thoughts. what do you think of the black and white decor pictured below: like it? hate it? love it? i think the decor style in the second photo is my preferred of the three. it's less intense, i'd dare say even casual, and the colour from the red bench and floral pillows keeps it cute and light.

i'm completely head over heels for the gray and white floor in the first photo. to have enough floor space in a room for such a large and subtle design is something to envy. not to mention how beautiful the design itself is.

178 garfield place, brooklyn, new york.
rumour has it, 178 garfield place is the residence of jenna lyons, j.crew's current president--fashion and style extraordinaire. as i browsed through the photos of this now-for-sale 1880s north slope townhouse boasting 20' +/- wide, 4 stories (within those walls are 7 bedrooms (7 bedrooms!), 3.5 luxury bathrooms, and a private terrace off the master bedroom), and a completely finished cellar, i fell head over heels for the plaster cornices and medallions, aged pine floors, the charcoal gray and white bedroom and bathroom (love love love the charcoal gray and white combination), the claw foot tub, the double-door front entry, the backyard, the fireplaces and yellow-striped ceiling. read more about the magnificent space here. it's jaw-dropping and 100% swoonable.
drop a comment if you'd like to share your thoughts on the space. i'd love to hear them!

pretty shiny ikat.
'til now, i haven't really bought into the whole ikat trend but seeing it all shiny and mosaic-style on the walls has definitely caught my attention. rad stuff. that bronze mosaic (3rd one down) is calling my name.

ultra glam apartment.
my decorating likes don't usually include such ornate pieces and design as pictured below but i was immediately drawn to this apartment upon seeing the pictures on this is glamorous.

i think i'll blame the bed and the cushioned bench...

lofty design and decorating.
here's a snapshot from gwyneth paltrow and chris martin's tribeca loft. it's a little too perfect, too museum-like for me to comfortably live in, but the decoration is spectacular. i love the kitchen and i love their living room swing but my heart is captured by the shag rug.

i'm a big fan of muted colours for decorating but an entire loft in shades of white is a bit of a stretch, especially with kids and pets running about.
their hamptons home has a bit more colour but still the decorating style doesn't align with mine.
