is it too soon to consider a fall wreath?

last night we finally took down the delicious pine holiday wreath that's been hanging outside our door since thanksgiving. we were a little sad because we'd had it up for so long and actually beat out a neighbour in a silent who-will-keep-their-holiday-wreath-up-the-longest competition. so it's time for a new wreath. as luck would have it, williams-sonoma is having a sale on their wreaths for today only--20% off! i ordered the grains wreath and considered buying four others, just because they're so pretty and i'm sure they smell incredible. (i mean, really, lavender and rosemary? delicious smells.)

i really really want the floral herb wreath. i think it's magnificent.

gorgeous mishmash house.

i'm crazy about a lot of aspects in and around this house--and not-so-crazy for a few things; but they're hardly worth the effort of typing out. -wink-
that entryway--so lush with plants.
all the different textiles. they create a mishmash of texture and keep my eyes interested in the space.
the living room wallpaper. perky colours and design without being too garish.
the exposed beams painted white.
the large kitchen. i swoon over large kitchens. and this one has windows and appears to bathe in natural light.
the open staircase is very 1960s modern.
awesome kitchen table. it's huge and would fit an entire family, and the feast.
dang--look at that backyard/garden area. spectacular!

room love.

tall windows, tall ceiling, and double barn doors. sunroom. patterned floors. step bed and lanterns. rustic entryways. non-traditional rocking chair and floor lamp.oval tub. orb hanging light fixtures and kitchen farm sink. whitewashed exposed wall beams. checkered floors and striped towels. inviting furniture and an array of pillows.

black and white decor.

while the richness of the black and white stripes and other matching pieces (zebra carpet running the stairs) is a tad much for me, i appreciate its grand appeal from an artistic and glamourous approach. it's such a simple concept--black and white--but always packs quite a punch--whether that punch is classic or strong or something else. having it in your entryway is making quite a statement and i'm curious about your thoughts. what do you think of the black and white decor pictured below: like it? hate it? love it? i think the decor style in the second photo is my preferred of the three. it's less intense, i'd dare say even casual, and the colour from the red bench and floral pillows keeps it cute and light.

i'm completely head over heels for the gray and white floor in the first photo. to have enough floor space in a room for such a large and subtle design is something to envy. not to mention how beautiful the design itself is.

entryway in the afternoon.

what is it about entryways that grabs my attention? their majesty. their statement. their warmth. this is another to add to my inspiration folder for my [someday] entryway.

the pattern-cut beams and pile of wood are my favourite aspects to this entry. very rustic.

entryway at dusk.

the dark lighting of the photograph gives the appearance of winter dusk. i'm imagining walking through the door after a long evening walk with my honey on the countryside hills, the dogs scurrying past us and muddy boots lined up against the wall.

this as my back entryway would suit me just fine.

wreaths.

these wreaths from terrain are deliriously luxurious. i can almost smell their delightful winter fragrance through my computer screen. i should very much like to visit the actual barn/store in pennsylvania.

i love wreaths any time of the year for any season and it doesn't feel like christmas without a wreath hanging on the door.

cotton wreath.

could you imagine hanging a cotton wreath on your door? spectacular. so gorgeous and autumn-y.

if you live in the glen mills, pennsylvania area (lucky duck), stop by terrain and pick one up. as for me in the bay area, i'm going to visit some of my local home and garden stores for one. i love wreaths and it's time for wreath shopping anyway.

wall.

i dig this wall posted on walking around where the sidewalk begins (i followed the links and was routed back to a sweet bookshelf collective on lonny magazine). i especially love the glass-base lamps, the "for like ever" poster, and the bridge painting. the flowering twigs are a nice touch, too, especially in the clear glass vase. pretty.

you can buy the "for like ever" poster here in hot pink and neon red (printed on acid-free paper). if anyone knows where i can find it in grayscale, please let me know. i love it!
