i love thanksgiving.

for me, thanksgiving is the most wonderful time of the year. it's the smell of roasting turkey; the sound of football on the television and the hoots and hollers; little kids running about and babies to snuggle; anticipating visitors; greeting family; rolling out the dough for the dinner rolls and pies; testing the whipped cream cans with sprays into each other's mouths; properly cleaning up for dinner; setting the table with place cards and pouring sparkling cider; going around the table sharing what we're thankful for; piling plates to kingdom-come; eating 'til we can't bring another bite to our mouths; laughing through the family traditional readings and talents; settling down for a family holiday movie; going to bed happy and perhaps awakening to the first snow.

some of my most cherished childhood memories come from the thanksgiving holiday, like going to a movie in the theatre with my cousins and brothers and then stopping at taco bell after--as if we needed more food. ha! it was a time for family, great food, and football--nothing else mattered.

it's thanksgiving weekend!

hooray!
hurrah!
yippee!

i am well into my thanksgiving holiday with my family and couldn't be having a better time. the kids and i are reading lots of stories, watching cute movies (like pixar's the incredibles), chasing each other around the house, and just hanging out. they're a blast. my newest niece (she's coming up on 4 months) loves being held and kissed and snuggled; i can't get enough of her cuteness.

as a household, we're still enjoying leftovers from our thanksgiving meal feast. we're layering stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, and turkey in bowls and drowning them in gravy before they hit the microwave. the food gets better and better with every passing day.

today we'll watch the ohio state and michigan rival football game (go buckeyes!) and continue on as before--eating, playing, and napping.

i hope your thanksgiving was bounteous and full of thanks!

love truly,

thanksgiving leftovers.

there were several wonderful pictures taken during the thanksgiving holiday but these are my favourites: ellen, my niece, myself, and biz, my cousin's youngest, had some fun with photo booth.

this was one of the best thanksgivings in my memory. my brother and sister-in-law (parents to ellen and james) in moses lake, washington hosted and it was a perfectly full house--3 of my 4 brothers were there, another sister-in-law, and my cousin's husband and 3 children--who i hadn't seen in years. it was truly a delightful time as we took to the kitchen, prepared the thanksgiving dinner, and just laughed and shared stories. after dinner, as food was settling in our bellies, we went around the table telling what we were very thankful for. this was easy for me--my family. i love my family and i love how much fun we have together as adults. as we've grown seamlessly with spouses and children, our friendships grow, too, and life just gets better and better. this is what makes life full.

i hope you had a wonderful thanksgiving holiday and that your thanks will continue with you through your day-to-day.

the thanksgiving table i'll be enjoying dinner at won't look quite that glamourous. instead, it will be surrounded with the ones i love and loads and loads of delicious homemade food with recipes that have been in our family for year. happy thanksgiving to you and yours!

the end of the long weekend.

good morning lovies,

is it as difficult for you as it is for me to return to work and get my head in the game after a long and lazy holiday weekend? all i wanna do is be back in my apartment curled up in bed, a cup of tea on my bedside table, and the british tv show, mi-5, streaming episode after episode. -- sigh -- rent doesn't pay itself.

happy belated thanksgiving to you all. i hope your holiday was abundant in good food, friends, family, laughs and love. now that thanksgiving is behind us (my favourite holiday of the year), the christmas cheer can start flowing. and by christmas cheer, i don't mean cyber monday or black friday but instead the lovely sounds of christmas time, beautiful wreaths, decorations, afternoons full of baking, cars glazed with frost, and charitable donations. this is truly the most wonderful time of the year.

enjoy your day and week and happy christmas time!

love truly,
katie kate

thanksgiving day.

it's still thanksgiving day—my favourite holiday. with so many things to be grateful for (like my adorable nephew and nieces as shown below), it's nice to have an official day set aside to reflect and remember those things that make my life worth living. if you haven't already, take some time to remember what you're thankful for.

jacob, 5 years old; rebekah, 2 years old; ellen, 6 months old

be thankful every day—not just on thanksgiving day.
