kiddos in couture.
while i tend to laugh at the prices of children's clothes these days -- swearing to myself that my kids will wear onesies and hand-me-downs until they have a clothing allowance -- i have to admit that the bonpoint fashion show proved that even couture looks fantastic in size 3T.
as cute as they are in their fashions, i hold to my babies outfitted in onesies and their cousins' hand-me-downs, unless anthropologie comes out with a baby line...
then... well...
we'll just have to see how cute those onesies are.

babies--dress 'em up and show 'em off.
sometimes i wish i had a few little ones squirming and dashing about just so i could dress them in cute rompers and dresses like those from winter water factory. that's the point of having babies, right? dress 'em up and show 'em off.
winter water factory clothes are organic and made in the usa--from start to finish.

cashmere is for grownups.
i break out into hives when i lay my eyes on the prices of some baby/infant clothes these days and j.crew, as much as i love the brand, is no different. cashmere for baby? i don't think so. no matter how beautiful the heart print is, it's not worth $145.00. let's think about how fast babies grow and the quantity of spit up and drool they expel. yeah, not worth it. even if their cashmere is machine washable.
dearest j.crew, cashmere is for grownups and i'm saving my pennies and counting my nickels for this piece, this piece, and this piece for fall/winter.
the baby models are cute, though. nowhere close as adorable as my own nieces and nephews but definitely cute. i mean, how can one resist a crawling baby naked except for heart print bloomers?

bloomers and flutter-sleeve tops for little girls.
ohmigoodness, swallow's return clothing is precious. i really can't get over the cloud pocket on the peach linen top or the flutter-sleeve top. and those knickers! and the swan dress. heaven help me. i need a little girl to dress like right now.

lucy--one of my favourite girl names.
if i had a lucy (maybe someday i will; i really love that name; could be a good dog name, too), i'd dress her in these adorably cute and playful clothes. i love the floral bloomers and lightning bolt leggings.
ack! lucy's place is in new zealand. that's far away. the clothes are almost even cuter now.

i'm a cute kids snob.
i'm a snob. i have this complex stuck in my head that my nieces and nephews are THE CUTEST kids in the world. sure, every aunt probably thinks that (or should out of mere calling as aunt), but i know it's true. mine are the cutest.
the kids pictured below are cute, too. they're from a collection of starred items in my google reader; i figured i'd post them because, even though they aren't on my christmas list, they're stinkin' cute. i mean, that little girl with the bun and her head turned--gorgeous. and the li'l lady holding up the street lamp--fantastic. kids with puppies, flying in the air, dressed in costumes, holding hands with their dads, lined up for a group photo--too cute to keep to keep to myself.

back-to-school time!
it's back-to-school time for most kids. that means shopping for school supplies and clothes, packing lunches, recess, learning how to write in cursive, and passing notes between classes. ("circle 'yes' if you like me"--i never wrote notes like that. -wink-) do you remember those learning-to-read books with dick and jane? this little girl reminds me so much of jane. she's adorable with her blonde bob, perfect english school uniform, and curious expressions.

i remember the days leading up to the first day back at school after the too-short, hot and humid ohio summer--days spent at the county park riding the merry-go-round and little train; swimming and doing underwater handstands at the city pool; in michigan at the family cottage eating ice cream and playing on the dunes. i was always excited for back-to-school shopping, and not the seemingly obvious shopping. i loved going for the paper, pencils, pens, notebooks, binders--all the actual school supplies--college ruled paper, five-star section notebooks, mechanical pencils and red pens. then, of course, there was the actual clothes shopping and that was fun, too. in my early school years, my mom would often make my first day back-to-school outfit and they were no doubt much cuter than what "jane" above is wearing.

giggle giggle.
this new line of clothes from giggle, called better basics, has me drooling. i love the stripes (navy and fuchsia with bright orange trim) and those training pants have me dancing. i don't remember what my potty-training pants looked like but i'd be willing to bet they weren't as cute.

i love gorgeous--for little girls.
beautiful clothes--dresses, cardigans, rompers, jumpers--for beautiful little girls by i love gorgeous. i would love to spend all summer long lounging by the lake in one of those romper suits. they look so comfortable and versatile and easy-breezy (meaning--perfect for the summertime); but i'm pretty sure rompers aren't as cute on adults as they are on kids with messy pigtails.

thanks to my cousin, km, for passing along the link. i'm adding it to my favourite children's clothing list, right next to boden and hucklebones.

hucklebones--too cute. still.
spring has sprung at hucklebones and my heart is all a-flutter. truly, there is no cuter clothing line for little girls. if i could order the little yellow dress with that adorable brunette little girl i would. and i would gather a bouquet of balloons to celebrate.

you had me at "oink."
maybe it's because all last weekend i was doing animal sounds with my 19 month old niece (me: "ellen, what sounds does a cat make?" ellen: "meow.") that i think these sweatshirts are super cute. granted, they're intended for little boys but i think a little girl could sport the sheep sweatshirt and get away with it.
the sweatshirts are adorable but priced a little high for me at $38 considering how fast kiddos grow and the kind of stuff they drag themselves through. maybe we'll wait for them to go on sale.
i love that the respective animal sound is on the back of the sweatshirt!

spring baby.
does anyone else feel that spring fashions come earlier and earlier every year? i mean, i know i'm one of the few winter lovers but i haven't even been able to wear all my winter sweaters and already my inbox is full of retailers announcing their spring lines.
usually i'll delete their bouncing-with-springtime-energy emails but boden snatched me right up with these adorable pictures from their spring baby line. how could i press "delete" and live with myself?
and can i just say, "does that cornflower blue hotchpotch dress come in my size?" adorable. i'll settle for the dress and the toddler inside it, if necessary.
i think we can blame fashion retailers for global warming. they're constantly shoving the next season down our throats. no wonder the universe is screwed up.

hucklebones--too cute.
warning: if your biological clock is ticking, you may not want to read any further, for the children's clothes pictured in this post are beyond words and the children modeling the clothes are too darling.
hucklebones out of the u.k. has taken children's fashion to a whole new level--smart, easy, playful, chic.

i agree with animalheadvintage, the white blouse is to die for and if it came in a big girl size, i'd snatch it up without a second's hesitation. if the pictures above weren't enough for you, you can view the lookbook here.
